05 - Eden Fractal (May 2022 - present)
What it is
The longest-running practical fractal, and ZAO’s closest sibling community. Founded May 2022 by Dan SingJoy out of the Genesis Fractal community. Now in Epoch 2 on Base.
Eden Fractal is the R&D fractal - the place where ORDAO, frapps, Fractalgram, and new tooling get tested before other fractals adopt them. Zaal has been an active Eden member and has sat on its council.
Epoch 1 (May 2022 - June 5, 2025) - EOS era
- Weekly meetings, ~10 consistent regular participants
- Ran on a custom EOS blockchain configuration with the EDEN token
- 77 contributors earned EDEN Respect
- 100+ self-funded community events
- Produced hundreds of educational videos
- Inspired dozens of additional fractal communities
- Late 2023: restructured around formal mission/vision/strategy
- Feb 2023: Tadas Vaitiekunas released the original Fractalgram (Telegram web client for live sessions)
A note on the Epoch 1 to 2 transition: Eden has publicly clarified that August 2024 was a false start (sometimes called “Epoch 1.5”). The official Epoch 2 launch with ORDAO on Base is June 5, 2025.
Epoch 2 (June 5, 2025 - present) - Base era
- Launched June 5, 2025 at Event #121 - the 3-year anniversary
- Re-launched on Base (Ethereum L2, Superchain)
- ORDAO deployed with soulbound ERC-1155 tokens
- EOS Respect migrated to Base via a snapshot + claim mechanism
- Eden Town Hall revived as the governance discussion complement
- Fractal Impact Concert organized during mid-season break
- Season 12 began January 2026
- 130+ total events as of April 2026
- ~40+ active participants, 77 Epoch 1 holders (EDEN -> EDEN-on-Base migration)
- Bi-weekly meetings on Thursdays at 17:00 UTC

Why ZAO and Eden are close
- Shared tooling stack. Both run ORDAO on the Superchain. Both use soulbound ERC-1155 Respect minted via OREC.
- Shared people. Dan SingJoy founded both Eden Fractal and (later) Optimism Fractal. Zaal participated in Eden and served on its council. Tadas Vaitiekunas (Optimystics lead dev) deployed both
zao.frapps.xyzandeden-fractal.frapps.xyz. - Complementary positioning. Eden is the general-purpose governance fractal. ZAO is the music-and-culture fractal. With Optimism Fractal paused (Jan 2026), Eden and ZAO are the only two active fractals on the entire Ethereum Superchain.
